As part of the “Side by Side: United Communities” project, the Youth Council of the Myrne Town Military Administration visited the Velyki Luchky community.
The first day of the trip was devoted to exploring the community’s cultural heritage, history, and current initiatives.
In the village of Velyki Luchky, the young people took a tour of the local library, viewed museum exhibits, and learned about the history of the Church of the Ascension of Christ. The guests also climbed the bell tower and enjoyed the picturesque views of the village.
A visit to the village of Rokoshino—a settlement with a rich Hungarian cultural heritage—made a particular impression. The participants visited the Rokoshino Gymnasium, where instruction is conducted in both Ukrainian and Hungarian. The young people learned about the school’s operations, the preservation of national traditions, and coexistence in a multinational environment.
During a visit to the Rokoshino Reformed Church, the young people learned about the history of the Hungarian national community and listened to the organ music accompanying the worship service.
Vasyl Koshura, Chairman of the Velykoluchkiv Village Council, presented to the young people the projects implemented in the community and shared his vision for the area’s future development. In particular, the participants visited the amphitheater in the village of Rokoshino—part of a tourist route dedicated to the anti-Habsburg uprising led by Ferenc II Rákóczi.
Such meetings not only strengthen partnerships between communities but also open up new opportunities for young people, uniting people around shared values, mutual support, and development.
