“Young Person of the Year – 2026” - Hanna Yaremchuk

Published 20 July 2026 year, 12:54

Participant in the regional competition “Young Person of the Year – 2026” in the “Energy of Care and Support” category: Hanna Yaremchuk

Hanna Yaremchuk was born into a family of miners in the Donetsk region. When the full-scale war began, she balanced her studies with work at a humanitarian headquarters, where she took her first steps in helping people. She later chose a career as a psychologist, dedicating herself to supporting those affected by the war.

Today, Hanna works as a psychologist for the international humanitarian organization People in Need in the Donetsk region. Despite being forced to relocate from Dobropillia to Kramatorsk, she continues to work in communities near the front lines, providing psychological support after shelling, conducting individual counseling sessions, group sessions, and psychoeducational activities, and supporting people at a transit center.

Throughout her career, Hanna has provided psychological support to over a thousand people - including children, internally displaced persons, adults, the elderly, and families who have experienced loss. A separate focus of her work is training educators in first psychological aid and supporting children in crisis situations.

By continuously improving her professional qualifications, Hanna masters modern, evidence-based methods of psychological assistance, particularly in working with war trauma, veterans, prisoners of war, and internally displaced persons. Her professional work exemplifies humanity, resilience, and dedication to others. Despite her own experience of living in wartime conditions, she helps others every day to rebuild their inner strength, find support, and regain faith in the future.
