Participant in the regional competition “Young Person of the Year – 2026” in the “Guardian of Resilience” category Vyacheslav Timofeev
Vyacheslav Timofeev has been working in the substation department of an energy company in the Donetsk region since 2020. After earning a degree in “Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electromechanics,” he consciously chose a profession focused on ensuring the region’s vital functions.
In 2022, due to the escalation of hostilities, Vyacheslav was forced to temporarily leave the region. However, in 2023, he returned home and resumed his work. Since then, as part of repair crews, he has been regularly traveling to damaged substations and power grids throughout the Donetsk region.
He has to work just a few kilometers from the front line, where the threat of renewed shelling remains a daily reality. To protect their lives, workers are required to wear body armor and helmets, follow safety protocols, and regularly undergo first-aid training.
For Vyacheslav, repairing equipment is a pragmatic yet vital job. A stable power supply enables hospitals to operate, maintains mobile communications, and meets the daily needs of thousands of local residents.
Despite the grueling schedule and heightened danger, the specialist continues to carry out his duties every day, maintaining the energy infrastructure of the frontline region.
