On May 29, 2026, a meeting was held of the working group responsible for coordinating efforts within the Donetsk region to provide assistance and social services to war veterans, military personnel, and the families of fallen soldiers (those who have died or been declared missing in action).

The meeting was attended by representatives of the regional state administration’s structural units, the regional employment center, the Main Directorate of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, the Donetsk Regional Territorial Recruitment Center, district state administrations, the Main Directorates of the National Police and the State Emergency Service in the Donetsk region, as well as military administrations in areas where the aforementioned categories of persons reside.

In May 2026, 42 servicemen from the Donetsk region were released from captivity.

Meeting participants reported on the work carried out to identify the needs of seriously wounded servicemen, individuals released from captivity, and their family members, and discussed issues arising during the provision of social services.

Participants also discussed current issues related to social protection, psychological support, and rehabilitation for these categories of individuals.

Based on the meeting’s outcomes, further steps were identified to strengthen cooperation among responsible agencies and institutions regarding the provision of assistance and social support.
