On July 30, as part of the regional platform “Dialogue Between Government and Business”—established at the direction of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy—an online meeting was held on the topic “A Step Toward a New Career: Vocational Training with the Employment Service.” More than 80 representatives of businesses, state authorities, and local governments in the Donetsk region participated in the event.
The keynote speaker was Yana Chepurna, head of the vocational training department within the employment program implementation division of the Donetsk Regional Employment Center.
During the event, participants were presented with the vocational training opportunities currently offered by the State Employment Service for the unemployed, internally displaced persons, veterans, people with disabilities, and other categories of citizens. Topics included vocational training, retraining, professional development, voucher-based training, as well as the work of the State Employment Service’s vocational and technical education centers, which provide training in modern professions in line with labor market needs.
The speaker paid special attention to programs supporting women who seek to enter professions where they have traditionally been underrepresented, and she also announced a new government initiative—professional development grants—that will provide funding for vocational training and continuing education.
Participants also learned about the State Employment Service’s online services, which allow users to apply for training online, obtain a voucher, or find information about current educational programs. Business representatives also received explanations regarding the conditions for obtaining vouchers, the specifics of training for internally displaced persons, government support for the unemployed during training, and other practical aspects of program implementation.
