In today’s world, the issue of professional support for veterans and demobilized individuals has become particularly relevant. The transition back to civilian life is often accompanied by complex social, psychological, and professional challenges. That is why training competent professionals capable of providing high-quality support is of paramount importance to society.
On April 27, 2026, the Center for Veteran Development at the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education launched a professional development program for specialists in the support of war veterans and demobilized individuals.
The first group of participants included representatives from the Druzhkivka, Kurakhiv, and Sloviansk territorial communities.
The program “Organization of the Work of Specialists Supporting War Veterans and Demobilized Persons” is aimed at developing practical skills and deepening knowledge in the areas of psychological support, social adaptation, and effective communication with veterans and their families.
The training of specialists under the 150-hour professional development program will last five weeks. During the course, participants will study material organized into five content (thematic) modules:
- “Social and legal protection for individuals with relevant status,”
- “Case management in working with individuals with relevant status,”
- “Psychosocial support for individuals with relevant status,”
- “Maintaining professional documentation and reporting,”
- “Helping individuals with relevant status adapt to life in the local community.”
Professional development in this area contributes to strengthening the social resilience of the community and supporting those who defended Ukraine.
