From April 27 to May 29, 2026, the Center for Veteran Development at the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education hosted an intensive professional development course for specialists in supporting war veterans and demobilized individuals, under the program “Organization of the Work of Specialists Supporting War Veterans and Demobilized Individuals.”
The first group of participants consisted of representatives from the Druzhkivka, Kurakhiv, and Sloviansk territorial communities.
Over the course of five weeks, the specialists developed practical skills and deepened their knowledge in the areas of psychological support, social adaptation, and effective communication with veterans and their families.
- The participants mastered the material, organized into five thematic modules:
- “Social and legal protection of individuals with relevant status,”
- “Case management in working with individuals with relevant status,”
- “Psychosocial support for individuals with relevant status,”
- “Maintaining professional documentation and reporting,”
- “Adaptation of individuals with relevant status to life in the local community.”
The materials and skills acquired will serve as the foundation for implementing initiatives to support war veterans, demobilized personnel, their family members, and the families of fallen (deceased) war veterans and Defenders of Ukraine. This represents a significant contribution to strengthening the social resilience of communities.
Given the relevance of this field and the importance of training qualified personnel, the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education is continuing this work and is now recruiting the next group. Community representatives are invited to join the training to jointly build an effective support system for veterans.
