From July 6 to 14, a military-patriotic training program called “Warrior Werewolf,” named after the insurgent leader Hryhorii Savon, was held for young people in the Donetsk region.
The event was organized by the Regional State Administration’s Department of Family, Youth, and Public Events for National-Patriotic Education, in collaboration with the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Regional State Administration’s Department of Education and Science. Thanks to funding from the regional budget, participation was completely free for all young men and women.
Over the course of nine days, young men and women from various communities in the Donetsk region built up their strength, spirit, and endurance while acquiring practical skills necessary for today’s realities.
A distinctive feature of the event was the involvement of experienced instructors—military personnel from the Special Operations Forces Resistance Movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Under their guidance, participants completed an intensive training course covering several key areas.
Oleksandr Shevchenko, deputy head of the regional state administration, addressed the event with warm words. He emphasized that today, patriotic education is not just dry theory from textbooks, but the foundation of our survival and security. Looking into the eyes of the young people, he noted that he saw before him a new, conscious, and incredibly strong generation capable of defending their homeland.
What did the young people learn?
The young men and women studied in detail the types of explosive devices, the rules of conduct upon discovering them, and procedures for moving safely through the area.
An important part of the program was practicing first aid, which included providing assistance directly under fire, stopping critical bleeding using tourniquets and improvised materials, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The young people were introduced to the basics of operating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), their technical specifications, and gained their first practical flying skills.
Participants learned to navigate the terrain using maps, compasses, and modern navigation devices, as well as to independently plan safe routes.
Special attention was paid to the rules for the safe handling of weapons, studying their material and technical components, tactical and technical characteristics, and practicing basic shooting stances.
Upon completion of the specialized military-patriotic training program “Warrior-Werewolf,” each participant received a certificate of completion. All participants received commemorative gifts and special awards for their demonstrated resilience, discipline, and academic achievements.
The young men and women returned to their communities filled with excitement, unforgettable memories, and valuable experience in teamwork. The “Werewolf Warrior” training program, named after the insurgent leader Hryhorii Savon, not only provided them with vital knowledge but also united the youth of Donetsk Oblast into a true, extended family, ready to work together for the future of Ukraine.
