In February 2026, secondary schools in Donetsk Oblast ran an info campaign called "5 Steps to Healthy Eating," which was started by the Donetsk Oblast Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine together with the regional administration's Department of Education and Science.

Thirteen general secondary education institutions in Donetsk Oblast joined the campaign. The aim of the events was to foster a responsible attitude towards nutrition in children, promote the principles of a healthy diet, and prevent non-communicable diseases.

As part of the campaign, thematic webinars were held for students, teachers, and parents. During the events, participants learned about the basics of a balanced diet, the risks of excessive consumption of sugar, salt, and trans fats, and received practical recommendations for developing healthy eating habits. A total of 675 students, 79 teachers, and 256 parents participated in the webinars on "The Basics of Healthy Eating," while 688 students, 92 teachers, and 220 parents participated in the webinars on "Sugar, Salt, and Trans Fats: Dangers We May Not Be Aware Of."

In addition, educational institutions held educational sessions, thematic discussions, surveys, flash mobs, and creative competitions. Students prepared drawings, posters, videos, and other creative works dedicated to promoting the principles of healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle.

The information campaign helped raise students' awareness of the principles of healthy eating, intensified educational work in educational institutions, and confirmed the effectiveness of cooperation in the field of public health and education.
