The first meeting of the newly formed Coordination Council on the Promotion of Ukrainian National and Civic Identity, affiliated with the Donetsk Regional State Administration, took place in the Donetsk region.

The meeting was chaired by the head of the Coordination Council—Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko.

The renewed composition of the council includes representatives of government, civil society organizations, historians, media professionals, military personnel, and veterans—all those capable of making the Coordination Council’s work effective and constructive.

At the meeting, the Coordination Council’s work plan for 2026 was approved, and discussions were held on summer camps and the training system, mechanisms to counteract IPSO in the student environment, the promotion of military professions among youth, and the implementation of local programs to strengthen Ukrainian national and civic identity.

The Coordination Council operates with a clear understanding that Russia is attempting to destroy Ukrainian identity, so any initiatives in this direction are an element of strategic defense.
