More than 218 thousand civilians remain in Donetsk region

Evacuations continue in the Donetsk region, with people moving to safer regions. As of August 26, 218,271 people remain living in the government-controlled areas of Donetsk region. Of these, 16,245 are children.


The progress of the evacuation in Donetsk Oblast was discussed during a traditional briefing at the regional state administration with representatives of the Children's Service and the Department of Social Protection.

Most children now live in the Kramatorsk community - 5147 and the Slavic community - 5122.

There are still 45 children in the area of active hostilities, said Yulia Ryzhakova, head of the children's service. 40 children are in the Lyman community and 5 more in Toretsk.

In 9 settlements of the five communities, where the evacuation of families with children was announced and continues, 1972 children remain to live. These settlements include 40 children in the Liman community, 69 children in the Dobropillya community (59 children in Dobropillya town and 10 children in Svyatogorivka village), 2 children in Dobropillya village of the Kryvyi Rih community, 108 children in Bilozerska community, and 1753 children in Druzhkivka community.

Over the past week, 545 children were evacuated with their parents from the settlements where forced evacuation is ongoing. Nine children were evacuated from Lyman community, 3 children from Andriyivska, 86 children from Dobropilska, 348 children from Bilozerska and 99 children from Druzhkovka.

Free resettlement of people in need of housing in other regions of Ukraine continues. Organized resettlement is carried out through two transit points in Dnipropetrovs'k and Kharkiv regions. This was reported by Dmytro Pozharsky, head of the social services division of the Department of Social Protection.

Over the past week, 402 people have been resettled free of charge, including 182 people with limited mobility in Donetsk Oblast and 23 children.

Today, another 46 single people with limited mobility are boarding an evacuation train to go to Kyiv. In the capital, they will be taken by specialized transport to live in institutions that provide care. In total, there will be three such trips, and 150 single people with limited mobility from different communities in Donetsk will be in danger.
