The National List of Elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine has been expanded to include a new element from the Donetsk region. ‘Panayir – a tradition of celebration among the Greeks of Ukraine’ is a custom involving religious, community and family celebrations, which forms an important part of the cultural heritage of the Greeks of Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine https://surl.li/ptqhxo
The inclusion of this element in the National List is of particular significance for the Donetsk region, where, against the backdrop of Russian aggression, issues of cultural identity and historical memory have taken on special relevance. It also draws attention to the region’s rich cultural diversity and its distinctive traditions.
Despite the challenges posed by the war, cultural life in the Donetsk region continues. The new additions to the National List are evidence that the region’s traditions remain an important part of the Ukrainian cultural landscape and continue to unite communities.
