The Department of Family, Youth, and Mass Events of the National Patriotic Education of the Regional State Administration announces the start of accepting documents for participation in the regional competition "Young Person of the Year".
The competition is held to recognize and support the most active young people for their significant contribution to the social life of society, to stimulate positive changes in the youth environment, and to promote the implementation of state youth policy.
Nominations for the competition in 2025:
- Nomination "Unbreakable: the strength of spirit and valor of Donetsk region"
This nomination honors those who are true examples of resilience and patriotism, regardless of whether they continue to fulfill their military duty or have already returned to civilian life. We recognize both active military personnel who selflessly defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and veterans who continue to inspire with their achievements in any field of life after their service.
Who we honor:
Young military personnel who demonstrate high standards of courage, bravery, and patriotism every day. These are those who have participated in combat operations, performed tasks in high-risk conditions, and displayed exceptional courage and professionalism. We are looking for leaders capable of taking responsibility, motivating their comrades, and making effective decisions in difficult conditions. Their actions and service are examples of heroism, dedication, and professionalism for the entire community, strengthening the defense capability of our state.
Veterans who, after serving in the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine, continue to be a source of inspiration. These may be entrepreneurs who create successful businesses and innovative products, volunteers and philanthropists who improve the lives of their communities, artists and cultural figures whose works enrich Ukrainian culture. We also honor veterans who have achieved success in education, science, or sports at local, national, or international levels.
This nomination emphasizes the deep connection between military valor and subsequent contributions to the development of society. It unites those whose strength, courage, and unbreakable faith in Ukraine's victory are a reliable support for the future of our country.
- Nomination "Rescuer of the Year"
This nomination honors young people who have shown extraordinary courage, determination, and selflessness in critical situations, acting beyond their usual duties or professional sphere. Candidates may include rescuers (employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, civil protection), miners who participated in rescue operations during collapses, drivers who assisted in evacuating people, local residents who rescued people from burning buildings, or any other young individuals whose actions have become examples of heroism, bravery, and humanity for the entire community. These are those who, risking their own lives, came to the aid of others in the most dangerous moments.
- Nomination "Law and Order Defender"
Employees of the National Police of Ukraine who have demonstrated high professionalism, dedication to service, and significant contributions to ensuring the safety of citizens. Also nominated are ordinary citizens who actively cooperated with law enforcement agencies, assisted in the detention of criminals, testified in important cases, helped in conducting preventive measures, or in any other way contributed to maintaining public order and safety.
- Nomination "On Guard of Life"
Medical professionals of all specialties – doctors, nurses, paramedics, combat medics who demonstrate high professionalism and humanity every day. Also nominated are ordinary citizens who, without medical education, showed courage and provided first aid or took other actions that saved or improved the condition of the injured, whether at the scene or by organizing assistance. These may be people who provided help in traffic accidents, during emergencies, or in any other cases where their actions were crucial for saving lives or minimizing the consequences of injuries.
- Nomination "Critical Infrastructure Worker of the Year"
Employees of the energy sector, water supply and sewage sector, transport enterprises, communication sector, etc.
- Nomination "Public Figure of the Year"
Volunteers, lawyers providing free legal assistance to those affected by the war, leaders of public initiatives aimed at solving social problems, organizers of cultural events aimed at supporting people and preserving cultural heritage.
- Nomination "Youth Worker of the Year"
Employees of youth spaces, centers, and clubs, social educators, psychologists, trainers, volunteers working with youth, organizers of youth projects and events, educational institution staff, librarians, etc.
- Nomination "Heart Dedicated to Donetsk Region"
This nomination may be awarded to young people from the Donetsk region who, despite being forcibly displaced to other regions of Ukraine or abroad, do not lose connection with the region and make significant contributions to improving the lives of people in Donetsk, working towards victory and the restoration of the Donetsk region.
Citizens of Ukraine aged from 14 to 35 years who have distinguished themselves with significant achievements in the social sphere and the implementation of state youth policy, who permanently reside and carry out their activities in the territory of the Donetsk region (except for the nomination "Heart Dedicated to Donetsk Region").
To participate in the Competition, the following documents must be submitted to the Department in electronic form:
- application form;
- the story of the young person in free form, in Ukrainian, up to two pages in A4 format;
- copies of documents confirming the achievements of the young person (articles, awards, information about participation in festivals, forums, conferences, etc.);
- a photograph of the young person in electronic form;
- consent to the publication of personal data in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On Personal Data Protection".
- Other materials that help reveal the achievements of the young person and their social significance may be added to the above list of documents.
A participant who takes part in the competition has the right to submit their candidacy for only one of the defined nominations.
The criterion for determining the winners of the competition is the social significance of the cumulative achievements of the candidates in the respective nominations. Achievements of candidates from previous years may also be taken into account.
