The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, together with the State Tax Service, is conducting a communication campaign called "Taxes Protect." A series of infographics and videos describe various real-life situations that will teach you about:

  • the most common tax situations for Ukrainian citizens and the corresponding taxes,
  • the procedure for paying them and their distribution between the state and local budgets,
  • where the state spends the taxes paid by citizens,
  • the consequences of tax evasion.

Read about a real-life situation and find out what taxes Victoria pays on her income from advertising on Instagram.

41-year-old Victoria runs a popular blog on Instagram. By advertising Ukrainian and foreign brands, she earns about UAH 70,000 per month (UAH 210,000 per quarter; UAH 840,000 per year). To legalize her income, Victoria registered her activity as a sole proprietor (individual entrepreneur) of group 3. This allows her to officially provide advertising services and receive payments from foreign companies.

Every quarter, Victoria submits a tax return through the "My Tax" app and pays taxes.

If Victoria receives payment for her advertising services to her personal bank card, in cryptocurrency, or in cash and does not declare these funds, it turns out that she does not pay taxes on her income. Then:

  • the military does not have quality footwear to move quickly and comfortably in their positions,
  • children in kindergarten cannot eat comfortably in the cafeteria,
  • state social insurance funds will not be replenished, so Victoria will not receive social insurance and corresponding payments if necessary.
