A meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and conduct of physical education, health promotion events, and sports competitions within the framework of the “Side by Side: All-Ukrainian School Leagues” project was held under the chairmanship of Igor Boiko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.
Meeting participants discussed the preparations of educational institutions in various communities of Donetsk Oblast for the “Side by Side: All-Ukrainian School Leagues” project, which will involve students from general secondary education institutions during the 2026–2027 school year. This season’s motto is “Together We Will Win.”
Volodymyr Mytsyk, head of the Regional State Administration’s Department of Physical Culture and Sports, provided an update on the progress of team registration for the project. He emphasized that registration will continue until November 15. Fifty-eight educational institutions from 25 communities in Donetsk Oblast have already registered, and registration is still actively underway.
Representatives of the region’s communities reported on which teams will participate in the competitions and which sports the students will choose, and they discussed various organizational issues.
The “Side by Side All-Ukrainian School Leagues” project was launched in 2023 at the initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to promote school sports, team spirit, and unity among children and youth. In the 2026–2027 school year, competitions will be held in nine sports: basketball, 3x3 basketball, rugby-5, track and field, orienteering, chess, cheerleading, table tennis, and recreational soccer.
