A meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and conduct of physical education, health, and sports events as part of the “Side by Side: All-Ukrainian Student Leagues” project was held under the chairmanship of Ihor Boiko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.
The meeting was also attended by heads of higher education institutions, chairs of physical education and sports departments, and individuals responsible for coordinating work on this project.
During the meeting, participants discussed the preparations of higher education institutions in the Donetsk region for the “Side by Side: All-Ukrainian Student Leagues” project among male and female students for the 2026–2027 academic year. This year’s competition season will be held under the slogan “Together We Will Win.”
Competitions will be held in four sports: basketball, volleyball, futsal, and cheerleading. Currently, five teams from the Donetsk region have already registered. Registration will continue until November 15.
Vladimir Mytsyk, head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports at the Regional State Administration, provided further details.
It was also noted that some students—who, although studying in other regions and at higher education institutions across the country—have joined teams representing the Donetsk region.
The “Side by Side: All-Ukrainian School and Student Leagues” project was launched in 2023 at the initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to promote sports, team spirit, and unity among children and youth.
