What changes must an unemployed person report to a career advisor?

Published 10 April 2026 year, 15:51

An unemployed person registered with the employment service is required to inform their career advisor within three working days about any changes that may affect their status or eligibility for benefits.

Key situations that must be reported:

🔹 Employment or self-employment:

  • starting a job (even temporary);
  • launching a business or becoming self-employed.

🔹 Changes in personal data:

  • change of residence;
  • new phone number or email;
  • change of surname or паспортних даних.

🔹 Relocation or change of location:

  • moving to another locality;
  • traveling abroad (must be reported no later than three working days before crossing the border).

🔹 Income:

  • any income that may affect benefit payments.

🔹 Health condition:

  • changes that affect ability to work;
  • taking sick leave.

🔹 Education or training:

  • enrollment in an educational institution (full-time or dual format).

🔹 Other important circumstances:

  • receiving a pension;
  • conscription or enlistment for military service;
  • any other changes affecting unemployed status.

❗ Why it matters:

Failure to report such changes may lead to:

  • termination of benefits;
  • obligation to repay received funds;
  • loss of unemployed status.

Timely communication with your career advisor is not only a legal requirement, but also a way to protect your right to state support and avoid negative consequences.
