Olena Yefremova is a deminer-paramedic from Kramatorsk. She has been with HALO Ukraine since 2021. Previously, she worked as a saleswoman. When she heard about the recruitment of deminers in Bakhmut, she joined the team without hesitation.
“At first, it was difficult. But I knew where I was going, so I understood what to prepare for. Now I am used to it. I appreciate both my work and the organization I work for. I remember how, with the beginning of the full-scale invasion, colleagues called every week - asking how I was doing, if I needed help. It means a lot to me,” says the woman.
Now Olena's son also works at HALO; she was the one who convinced him to join.
“I don’t count how many explosive objects I have found. But I know: our work saves lives,” notes Olena.
