When trouble comes to our country, Ukrainians don’t wait for instructions — they simply start acting.
Volunteering in Ukraine has long ceased to be “a good deed in one’s spare time.” It has become a way to live during the war: to not look away from someone else’s pain, to refuse to accept injustice, and to not shift responsibility onto some abstract “someone.”
Since 2014, we have proven time and again that here, people take on what others might consider impossible. One openly spoken “we need to do this” is enough for like-minded people to gather — those who cannot stand aside.
I thank everyone who takes a step toward another person every single day — sometimes a small one, sometimes an extraordinary one. These steps together form the road to our shared victory.
Happy International Volunteer Day!
Let’s take care of ourselves and one another!
