The State Statistics Service, together with the Institute of Demography and Social Research named after Mykhailo Ptukha of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the NGO "Ukrainian Center for Social Reforms," with the support of the UNICEF in Ukraine, has started the implementation of the next round of the Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) in Ukraine. The organization and conduct of the survey are planned for 2025–2026.
MICS is a sample survey of households conducted according to international methodology and allows for the collection of reliable data to inform the monitoring of the situation of children and women in the areas of health care, education, security, nutrition, water supply, and sanitation. In addition, MICS is a tool for collecting and producing data to assess progress in achieving national goals and international commitments, particularly those defined by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The results of the survey will serve as a basis for developing more effective and targeted policies and initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of children and families.
The study will cover all non-institutional households in Ukraine and the individuals living in them, except for households and individuals residing in conflict zones and frontline territories.
The main stages of the research are:
- compiling lists of households (listing) during July-September 2025. This will provide updated data on the location and composition of households, allowing for the formation of a representative sample for conducting MICS;
- surveying households (fieldwork) during September 2025 – February 2026. Anonymity and confidentiality of all responses are guaranteed, and the results will be analyzed and presented only in aggregated form.
Representatives of the NGO "Ukrainian Center for Social Reforms," who will compile the lists of households (listing) and conduct their survey (fieldwork), will be dressed in clothing marked with MICS, will carry copies of letters regarding the survey, interviewer identification, and documents proving their identity.
