The European Sumo Cup took place on April 24–25 in the Georgian city of Batumi. Approximately 80 athletes from Georgia, Ukraine, Poland, Norway, Estonia, and Hungary participated in the competition.
Representing the Donetsk region on the Ukrainian national team was Oleksandr Veresiuk, a distinguished master of sports of Ukraine from the Bakhmut community. He took third place in the over 115 kg weight class.
The athlete was trained by coaches Olga Mytnyk and Oleg Reva.
