In order to ensure a barrier-free space for people with limited mobility at the communal institution "Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School" at its relocation site in the Poltava region and to improve the quality of stationary care services, specialized equipment was purchased with the support of the Donetsk Regional State Administration during 2024-2025.
This includes multifunctional beds for severely ill residents, tracked stair lifts for free and safe movement of residents between floors, a special vehicle lift for transporting residents outside the institution, and electric lifts with suspension that provide an appropriate level of care for bedridden and mobility-impaired residents of the institution.
The National Barrier-Free Week is an important initiative aimed at raising awareness about creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all. This year, a series of events dedicated to this topic were organized for the residents of the Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School living in the Poltava region.
The events were aimed at deepening the understanding of barrier-free principles among both the residents and the staff.
On May 19, 2025, a barrier-free hour took place. During this event, residents and staff were introduced to the "Barrier-Free Guide" using laptops, which allowed them to interactively explore key aspects of inclusion.
On May 21, 2025, to engage a wide audience and raise awareness about the values of barrier-free living, a movement (dance) called "Peace over Ukraine" was held. This event became not only a physical activity but also a symbol of unity and hope for peace.
On May 22, 2025, a discussion took place during which residents discussed the concept of barrier-free living and its values. The staff received detailed information about barrier-free services and the principles of their provision, which will help them in their further work aimed at quality service and the provision of social services to mobility-impaired residents of the institution.
We are proud of our residents, their resilience, and their unwavering desire to develop. We believe that very soon peace will prevail in Ukraine, and our residents will be able to return to their homes and live under a peaceful sky on their free land. Everyone in their place is bringing this victory closer.
Everything will be Ukraine!
