On September 28, the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” hosted the cultural and artistic event “Svyatogorye: Through the Centuries and the Flames of War” as part of the “Museum ArtLab” museum laboratory.

During the event, a photo exhibition titled “Heritage Not Doomed to Destruction” was presented, dedicated to the architectural landmarks of Svyatogorye, their history, and their current condition following damage caused by hostilities. The exhibition combined archival materials, historical photographs, and contemporary photographic documents.

Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, emphasized that the exhibition tells not only of losses but also of the responsibility to preserve Ukraine’s heritage.

“This exhibition is not only about losses, but also about our memory, responsibility, and desire to preserve what is part of Ukrainian history and identity.”

He also noted that it is symbolic to present the heritage of Svyatogorye specifically at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, as the cultural heritage of different regions is part of Ukraine’s shared history.

Separately, Oleksandr Shevchenko congratulated the military personnel on Defenders of Ukraine Day and thanked the Defense Forces for their courage, which makes it possible to work, preserve culture, and speak about it.

“It is precisely thanks to their heroism, courage, and titanic efforts that Donetsk Oblast stands, the heart of Ukraine beats, and we have the opportunity to work, defend our culture, and speak out about it to the whole world,” said the deputy head of the Regional State Administration.
