The village of Vysokopillia hosted an event dedicated to the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, titled “Traditions of Our Native Land,” which brought together folk art enthusiasts and cultural workers from across the Oleksandrivka community. The main goal of the gathering was to exchange experiences regarding the identification, documentation, and promotion of the unique customs, rituals, and crafts that are practiced in our region.

The event began with a presentation of decorative and applied arts exhibitions prepared by talented local craftswomen. The open-air exhibition became a living space where each location told its own unique story: from authentic crafts to traditional clothing and amulets.

A special highlight of the event was a tasting of traditional Nekremenne-style smoked plums—a unique regional culinary specialty preserved thanks to ancient recipes from the village of Nekremenne.

A logical continuation of the exhibition was a series of hands-on workshops organized by cultural workers. This interactive experience allowed all attendees not only to see the finished products but also to “feel firsthand” the complexity and beauty of the craft by personally participating in the recreation of ancient techniques.

The event in Vysokopillia served as a powerful stimulus for further local history work. It proved once again that the creative community of the Oleksandrivka community is firmly holding the cultural front, carefully gathering, bit by bit, what makes us Ukrainian.
