A student from Bakhmut is among the winners of the All-Ukrainian Mathematics Olympiad

From March 16 to 20, 2026, Lutsk became the center of intellectual competition—it hosted the third stage of the All-Ukrainian Mathematics Olympiad, which was also attended by a team of students from Donetsk Oblast

Among the winners was Oleksandr Levitov, an 8th-grade student at Bakhmut Secondary School No. 5 (Grades 1–3) with a specialized curriculum, who took the honorable third place.

Oleksandr himself admits that this experience was special for him: “I was nervous before the Olympiad, because this was my first time participating in a national-level competition, and there were strong competitors from physics and mathematics lyceums. Now I’m proud of my result, but I don’t plan to stop here.”

A pleasant bonus for the winners was certificates for study at the Kyiv School of Economics. As noted by Regional Council Deputy Orest Makhovsky, this is a unique opportunity to receive an education at an institution where tuition costs over 100,000 hryvnias per year.

We are proud of the entire Donetsk region team, which, in addition to Oleksandr, included Mykyta Telichko, an 11th-grade student at Lyceum No. 2 in Pokrovsk, and Yelyzaveta Ignatenko, an 8th-grade student at the Myrnohrad Secondary School. Each participant demonstrated a high level of preparation, logical thinking, and a genuine thirst for knowledge.

The Olympiad was memorable for more than just the competitions. Participants had the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of historic Lutsk during guided tours, visiting, in particular, the Korsaks Museum of Modern Ukrainian Art and the Zhydychyn Center. These places provided vivid impressions and immersed visitors in the history and contemporary artistic life of Volhynia.

A special word of gratitude to the math teachers who spark students’ interest in the subject every day, supporting and inspiring them to new achievements.

Special thanks to our defenders. Thanks to you, Ukrainian children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed even in the most difficult times.
