A child should grow up in a family — we are turning this into an action plan.
“I participated in the meeting of the Presidium of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine. The main topic was the implementation of the Strategy on Every Child’s Right to a Family Environment: moving away from boarding institutions, developing family-based care, and creating a network of services close to the child.
Together with the President’s Office, the government, colleagues from regional administrations, representatives of local self-government, and international partners, we agreed on steps and timelines for implementation.
In Donetsk region, there are 66 family-type orphanages and 124 foster families — all evacuated to safe regions of Ukraine and abroad. These are hundreds of orphans and children deprived of parental care for whom these families have become a true home.
Separately, we must not forget about the children abducted by Russia. There are already more than 1.5 million of them — we must know the fate of each one.
We also discussed legislative support for children and funding, including international assistance. A child in a family is our state priority.
I thank the President and the government for their consistent work in this direction,” Vadym Filashkin emphasized.
