Together with the Head of Donetsk Region Police Mykola Matviienko and the Head of the State Emergency Service in the region Yakiv Nemykin, they discussed the key challenges currently facing the region.
The main focus was on energy stability. The region requires further support for its energy infrastructure, especially in the context of preparations for the upcoming heating season and the implementation of the Regional Resilience Plan. This includes both the protection of facilities and the stable operation of critical systems.
They also discussed support for youth, veterans, and internally displaced persons.
Particular attention was given to the new phase of the EU4Recovery initiative, which UNDP is implementing together with the European Union. For Donetsk region, this is an important area of support for communities, development of social services, strengthening resilience, and assisting people affected by the war.
“I am grateful to UNDP and all international partners for their consistent support of Donetsk region. Special thanks for the teamwork of the State Emergency Service and the National Police of Ukraine,” Vadym Filashkin emphasized.
