Svitlana Galakh is a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who has dedicated herself to military service since 2006. After the Russian Federation launched its full-scale invasion, she became a combat medic and carried out missions in the Kherson, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions, providing aid to the wounded and saving the lives of her comrades.
Injuries sustained during the war made it difficult for her to get around on foot. Therefore, Svitlana decided to learn how to drive, which would allow her to be more mobile and independent in her daily life. To this end, she turned to the “Barrier-Free Driving School” at Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
She successfully passed both the written and practical exams on her first attempt, as a result of which she received a Category “B” driver’s license.
The “Barrier-Free Driving School” project is being implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine as part of an initiative by Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska.
