Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and Chief of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin announced that, on the occasion of Healthcare Worker's Day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the honorary title "Honored Doctor of Ukraine" to Nadiia Sheichenko, Acting Director of the Kostiantynivka Infectious Diseases Hospital.
This distinction recognizes 52 years of service in medicine, thousands of patients treated, and decades of responsibility for leading an entire medical institution. Nadiia Sheichenko began her career as a bacteriologist, later worked as an infectious disease specialist, headed a hospital department, and eventually became the hospital's director.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital was among the first in the Donetsk region to admit coronavirus patients. After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Nadiia Sheichenko organized the hospital's relocation from the active combat zone, successfully evacuating medical equipment, preserving the staff, and restoring the hospital's operations at a new location. Today, it continues to provide care for local residents, internally displaced persons, and military personnel.
"I sincerely congratulate Ms. Nadiia on this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for your resilience, dedication to your profession, and for the lives you have saved. The Donetsk region is proud of you!" Vadym Filashkin said.
