November 20 is Universal Children's Day, which has been celebrated in Ukraine as Children's Protection Day since 2025. This date, associated with the adoption of the UN Declaration and Convention on the Rights of the Child, is an important reminder to society of the need to protect the rights of young citizens, ensuring them a happy and safe childhood. This day takes on special significance in the context of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
Due to the escalation of hostilities caused by the aggression of the Russian Federation, the children of the Druzhkivka Children's Home-Boarding School were evacuated to preserve their lives and health, in particular to the Kingdom of Spain.
It was here, far from their homes, that this day became one full of vivid impressions and pleasant surprises for the residents of the boarding school. Ukrainian children spent it together with their Spanish peers, creating an atmosphere of creativity, music, and genuine friendly communication.
The festive program was rich and warm:
Joint creativity - the children took part in creative preparation together. They cut out colorful elements and created large collective panels dedicated to the themes of peace and childhood.
“Home Concert” - the next stage was a heartfelt concert. The pupils performed songs and played lively dance games, combining Ukrainian and Spanish cultures.
Exchange of wishes - at the end of the celebration, the children exchanged their own drawings on the theme “My Happy Childhood.” There were also collective panels with wishes for peace and happiness written in two languages—Ukrainian and Spanish.
This day became a real celebration of unity, support, and children's sincerity, confirming that there are people who care for the pupils of the boarding school and that they always feel support, despite the difficulties.
Children are our greatest treasure, and may every day be a celebration of kindness and care for them. Despite the joy of the holiday, the children of the Druzhkivka boarding school had one common wish on this day: for peace to come to their homeland as soon as possible and for them to return to their cozy and warm homes.
Childhood should remain a happy, carefree time of life. We believe that peace will come to Ukraine very soon, and our brave young generation will live under a peaceful sky on their free land. We wish that every child be surrounded by care and feel protected, because children are our hope, motivation, and the future of our beautiful country.
