How to Reduce the Risk of Workplace Injuries Under Martial Law

Published 12 August 2026 year, 17:17

During martial law, workplace safety takes on particular importance. Employers must continuously adapt preventive measures to new challenges in order to protect the lives and health of their employees.

To prevent accidents while employees are performing their duties, the following measures should be implemented:

Safety briefings: Regularly explain to employees the rules of conduct when an “Air Raid Alert” is announced.

Strict compliance with safety requirements: Ensure clear control so that all employees immediately proceed to a shelter when danger arises.

First aid training: Organize practical training to teach employees how to provide first aid to people injured as a result of hostilities.

Provision of personal protective equipment: Provide employees free of charge with the necessary protective clothing, footwear, and other equipment in accordance with the established standards (Order No. 1804 of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine dated November 29, 2018).

After assessing the actual risks, an employer may provide additional protective equipment beyond the established standards, such as body armor, protective helmets, or gas masks.

Remember: compliance with occupational safety requirements helps protect your life and health and those of your colleagues.
