Police officers, together with volunteers, evacuated a family fleeing shelling for the fourth time. Currently, 9-year-old Anastasia, 10-year-old Oleksandr, and their mother are safe.

The family had been living in the remote area of Vysoko-Ivanivka, where the security situation is extremely tense.  For them, this is already the fourth attempt to find a safe haven. The family has gone through the true hell of war.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk Oblast.

“We are from the village of Hremyach in Chernihiv Oblast. There, the shelling was so intense that we didn’t leave the basement for a week with the children; we couldn’t even lift our heads. Then we left for Nizhyn. From Nizhyn, we moved to Sumy, but there our house was completely bombed. That’s how we ended up here, in Donetsk Oblast. Compared to what we went through in Chernihiv Oblast, it seemed calmer here, even though there’s constant flying, shooting, and the sound of drones,” the woman says.

The war has long since changed the lives of 9-year-old Nastya and 10-year-old Oleksandr. Nastya is in third grade and takes classes online. She admits that she loves math the most and misses her friends terribly, who have already left for safer regions. Her brother Oleksandr says that because of the constant threat of shelling, he and his sister haven’t gone out to play on the street in a long time. All this time, the children have spent inside, playing only with each other.

“I really want to just go outside, take a walk, and visit a regular playground,” the boy shares his dreams.

Law enforcement officers evacuated the mother and her two children from the danger zone. The family was taken to a pre-arranged temporary shelter. The police and volunteers continue to stay in touch with the family and will continue to assist them.
