Soldier Oleksandr Taraman, call sign "Tara," was killed in action on May 1, 2022, during the defense of Mariupol. He was forever 22 years old.
Oleksandr was born in Mariupol. He studied at School No. 4 and, from an early age, played football at the Illichivets Football Academy, earning numerous certificates and medals. After completing the ninth grade, he enrolled at Higher Metallurgical Vocational School No. 99. As a teenager, he practiced Muay Thai, was passionate about history, loved animals and computer games, and dreamed of visiting the Carpathian Mountains.
In 2020, he joined the Azov Regiment. He successfully completed the basic combat training course on his first attempt, never giving up even when the training became difficult. He served as a gunner and later became an artillery gun commander. His fellow soldiers remember him as courageous, dependable, and always willing to help.
During the battles for Mariupol, Tara managed several times to bring food and essential supplies to his wife and father. His family saw him for the last time on March 9.
Oleksandr is survived by his wife, his father, and his brothers-in-arms.
