Published 16 June 2026 year, 09:00

Thirty-six-year-old Junior Sergeant Oleh Skoryk, call sign “Peacemaker,” died in hospital on February 3, 2024. During a combat mission in the Bakhmut sector, he sustained a severe blast injury. Doctors fought for his life, but his heart could not withstand the wounds.

Oleh lived in Pokrovsk and earned a higher education degree from Donetsk National University. In civilian life, he worked as a press operator of refractory products at PJSC “KDZ” and spent his free time with his family.

Even before the full-scale invasion, he had signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Ivan Sirko and took part in combat operations during the Joint Forces Operation (JFO). After February 24, 2022, he and his fellow soldiers defended Kharkiv region and later fought in other active combat areas.

Oleh’s wife remembers him as brave, fair, and kind-hearted. She says he always carried a smile and offered support to those around him.

At home, he was awaited by his wife and two children.

At 9:00 a.m., Ukraine observes a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Heroes Memorial Platform honor and remember the fallen defenders from Donetsk region.
