40-year-old Liliia Narysheva was killed on March 12, 2022, in Mariupol. She was taking shelter from shelling alongside her family in the basement of a building in the Tsentralnyi district when a direct hit caused the walls to collapse. Liliia died alongside her husband Yurii and their twin daughters, Diana and Kristina.
The Naryshev family lived on Mytropolitska Street. Liliia and Yurii raised their twin daughters together. One of the girls, Diana, faced severe health challenges and was unable to walk. When the full-scale war broke out, the Russian military subjected their neighborhood to daily shelling. The family sought shelter in the basement of a nearby building, but on March 12, an attack collapsed the structure and destroyed the shelter.
Liliia was born and lived in Mariupol, where she worked at the Illich Steel and Iron Works.
"I met Lilia when our children attended a rehabilitation center. I remember thinking how strong yet delicate she was! Liliia was responsible and kind. She actively participated in her children's lives and did everything she could to socialize them. Her daughter Diana couldn't walk, which was difficult because she had to be carried. Liliia was a wonderful mother and a true fighter—always by her girls' side everywhere they went. Caring, hardworking, cheerful, and responsible—that was all true about her," recalled Yana Rohozhan, a family friend.
