19-year-old soldier Artem Zabolotnyi, call sign “Khadzhyn,” was killed on November 5, 2023, near Novoprokopivka. While carrying out a combat mission, he came under Russian artillery fire.
Artem was born in the village of Ivanivka in Volnovakha district. He graduated from the local school and the Volnovakha Vocational School, where he trained as a tractor driver. He loved sports, especially football and basketball.
He dreamed of becoming a serviceman, so immediately after turning 18 he signed a contract with the National Guard of Ukraine. He served as an assistant grenade launcher operator in the 3rd Operational Brigade. Artem was already in service when the full-scale invasion began and stood up to defend Ukraine.
Family and friends remember Artem as a bright, cheerful, and courageous young man who never gave up and always helped others. His girlfriend says that even in the hardest moments he never complained and remained strong until the very end.
Artem is survived by his mother, grandmother, brother, and beloved girlfriend.
