Nationwide minute of silence

Published 28 April 2026 year, 09:00

The life of 54-year-old Oleksii Klymenko was taken by a Russian airstrike on Sloviansk on the morning of March 10, 2026. He was in his own apartment on Torska Street when an enemy bomb fell near the building. The man sustained severe injuries and was taken to the hospital. For a week, doctors fought for Oleksii’s life, but on March 17, without ever regaining consciousness, he died in intensive care.

Oleksii Klymenko was born on January 1, 1972, in the village of Oleksandrivka, Donetsk region. He first studied at Bohorodychne School and later at Sviatohirsk School. The family later moved to Sloviansk, where he graduated from the State Pedagogical Institute (Donbas State Pedagogical University). He obtained a degree as a teacher of labor training. He worked as a physical education teacher, a landscape designer, and was an entrepreneur. In recent years, he worked in construction.

Cheerful, energetic, positive, a devoted family man, and a loyal friend — this is how Oleksii is remembered by his relatives and loved ones.

Oleksii Klymenko is survived by his wife, a 9-year-old daughter, and an adult son.
