Women entrepreneurs of Donetsk region: the story of Anzhelika Abelentseva

Published 19 November 2025 year, 16:17

On November 19, the world celebrates International Women Entrepreneurs Day — a celebration of strength, determination, and belief in one's dreams.

Despite all the challenges, Ukrainian women are not stopping: they are boldly starting their own businesses, looking for new ways to develop, and proving that female entrepreneurship is about perseverance, creativity, and inner fire.

The Employment Service helps women unlock their potential and take their first steps in business. For the third year in a row, the state grant program “Own Business” has been operating — an opportunity that hundreds of women have taken advantage of. They received financial support, professional advice, and guidance at every stage of creating their project.

This week, the Donetsk Regional Employment Service is sharing the stories of women entrepreneurs in our region — inspiring, courageous, and authentic.

Today's story is about Anzhelika Abelentseva from Sloviansk, who has been building her own business for over five years, known in the city as “Slavna Pekarnya” (Glorious Bakery). Her journey in business began in 2019 with a small shop in the city center, where it was always cozy and smelled of fresh pastries and aromatic coffee.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the bakery has not stopped working for a single day. It has become not only a place where residents can buy bread, but also a center of humanity, warmth, and faith in tomorrow.

In June 2023, Anzhelika was the first in Sloviansk to receive a microgrant to develop her business under the state program “Own Business.” Thanks to these funds, she purchased new equipment, expanded production, and created two new jobs, which were filled with the help of employment service recruiters.

And in July of the same year, among hundreds of successful entrepreneurs from all over Ukraine, Anzhelika represented Donetsk Oblast at an event dedicated to the anniversary of the launch of the “Own Business” program in Kyiv.

Over the years of cooperation with the employment service, the entrepreneur has hired seven unemployed people and has also taken advantage of compensation programs for the employment of internally displaced persons and the arrangement of workplaces for people with disabilities. Cooperation with the employment center continues.

We are not stopping there! There are many more stories of female strength, inspiration, and success ahead!
