Representatives of Donetsk region joined the meeting on the localization of National Action Plan 1325 "Women, Peace, Security"

Representatives of the Department of Family, Youth, and Mass Events of National Patriotic Education of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, as well as the public organization SMARTA, took part in an online working meeting of the consultative and advisory bodies of regional military administrations on family and gender policy, combating domestic violence and human trafficking, which took place on December 16.

The event was devoted to issues related to the localization of the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace and Security." The meeting brought together representatives of all consultative and advisory bodies from all regions of Ukraine, as well as Kyiv. The all-Ukrainian format of the meeting facilitated interregional exchange of experience, coordination of approaches, and strengthening of coordination of actions at the sectoral, regional, and local levels.

Kateryna Levchenko, Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, delivered a welcoming speech, outlining the key tasks for the regions following the meeting of the relevant Commission and stressing the importance of strengthening coordination between the national and local levels.

Galina Zhukovska, Senior Expert at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, spoke about approaches to localizing the National Action Plan 1325, organizational issues in preparing regional action plans, the new logic of strategic and operational goals, indicators, and the use of the Implementation Plan of the Framework Program to Counter Conflict-Related Sexual Violence.

Special attention was paid to new approaches to identifying security challenges through security audits of territories, shelters, and transport, taking into account the needs of different categories of women and men. Mykhailo Koryukalov, an expert on gender issues, spoke about the updated methodology, security audit tools, and the role of coordination councils in supporting and advocating for decisions.

During the meeting, key tasks for the regions were discussed in the context of preparing a new National Action Plan for the period up to 2030, approaches to the formation of regional action plans, as well as new methodological solutions for conducting security audits of territories, taking into account the needs of different groups of women and men, in particular IDPs, people with disabilities, and veterans.

The participation of representatives of government and civil society in such events is an important component of the formation of a coordinated state policy, the enhancement of regional capacity, and the effective implementation of the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, taking into account current security challenges and community needs.
